Well, Punxsutawney Phil says that spring is just around the corner. And if Spring is just around the corner in Punxsutawney, PA, it will be a few days earlier here in the Bluegrass. There are some great events happening it the Bluegrass this Spring. Here are just a few:
Plans are already underway to make this an exciting spring, starting with the Thoroughbreds and Redheads celebration of the Maker’s Mark Mile at Keeneland Racetrack in Lexington on Friday, April 13th, followed by the biggest block party in Kentucky at the corners of South Broadway and W Maxwell in downtown Lexington. Then on Saturday, April 14th, is the Ambassador’s Homecoming at the Makers Mark Distillery in Loretto, KY. Make your reservations at the Markers Mark website and come join us and Maker’s Mark for a fabulous weekend.

Once the racing starts at Keeneland, we are in a countdown to the 133rd running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, this year on Saturday, May 5th. A bit earlier, we have the Danville Boyle County Heritage Festival XIV at Danville High School 3/2/2007 -3/4/2007. This multi-cultured festival brings together Mexican, African-American, Asian, and Native American, as well as European, heritages for the enjoyment of all ages and races. And all summer long beginning on, April 3rd you can enjoy the Picnic on the Porch at the Woodford Reserve Distillery at 7855 McCracken Pike in Versailles.

And just as spring is about to fade into those lazy days of summer, the Great American Brass Band Festival comes to downtown Danville and Centre College on
6/7/2007 9:00 A.M.-6/10/2007 10:30 P.M. Named as “this country’s most unique music festival”, the event is an old-time brass band concert in the park that recaptures the nostalgia of peaceful, turn-of-the-century America. World-renowned bands begin playing early Saturday morning and continue through Sunday evening.
