While the EDP is certainly sad to see him go, we are thrilled at the new opportunity for Danville/Boyle County Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Adam Johnson. Next month, Johnson will become the first manager for the Bourbon Trail, which was created in 1999 by the Kentucky Distillers Association and is a tour of Four Roses, Heaven Hill, Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Wild Turkey and Woodford Reserve distilleries. For more on Johnson and what he will be doing, please read The Advocate-Messenger’s coverage.

Just got back from visiting our friends at the Kentucky Crossroads Harvest Festival in Springfield, KY. Once again, they’ve p;ut together a great festival. Our favorite event is the KCBS-sanctioned Jim Beam BBQ Classic, which takes place on Saturday, October 1, 2011 Kudos to Ralph Blandford and company for putting a great competition together for the third straight year. We stopped to visit with the event staff and friends John and Merrill of Pig Pak BBQ out of Madison, IN and, as always had the kind of great time you have when re-connecting with old friends. You need to get out to the Kentucky Crossroads Harvest Festival in Springfield, KY Saturday, October and Sunday, October 2 for a great time. The BBQ competition is early Saturday afternoon and award ceremonies are later in the day.

Food and Fellow Bloggers in Danville, Kentucky! Picturesque; a term often overused yet I can think of few that better describe Danville, KY. Streets lined with manicured hanging flower baskets and old-fashioned store fronts. This small Kentucky city is full of history while managing to also be a trendy college town. For the five years we lived in Lexington, I had always heard about Danville. I kept meaning to visit, but never took the opportunity. Once when we moved out of the city a little over ago, I got my land, my cattle farm view and my garden, but I also got Danville. Not bad timing either, especially for a foodie… Read the rest of the Post at Fake Food Free Blog

The 127 Corridor Yard Sale, which stretches 675 miles along U.S. 127 from Hudson, MI to Gadsden, AL is scheduled for August 4-7, 2011. While these are the official dates, vendors begin staking out their favorite places and setting up the weekend before, which means this Saturday and Sunday. Early Bird deals are available in some places along the route. Headquartered at the Fentress County Chamber of Commerce in Jamestown, TN, the 127 Yard Sales has become a major tourist attraction, even drawing HGTV to do an annual special.
