Sky Magazine, the in-flight travel publication of Delta Airlines has honored Lexington, KY with a great write-up this past month. Have a look at some of the articles that appeared in Sky, including Lexington education, business and restaurants and the FEI Equestrian Games, a World Class event scheduled for the Bluegrass in 2010.
The band that gets to close the GABBF picnic on Saturday night has their work cut out for them. This honored position was held for years by Olympia Brass Band from New Orleans - a perennial crowd favorite. The closing band has to rock the house. This year the closing position fell to Jack Brass Band out of Minneapolis MN and they did themselves and everyone in attendance proud. They brought down the house. We have some great great events here in the Bluegrass and the Great American Brass Band Festival in Danville is one of the best. It’s our pleasure to bring you this little piece of the 2008 GABBF, the US Army Field Band Chamber Brass Quintet. They were a huge hit at last Saturday’s GABBF Picnic at Centre College. Enjoy!
Daylight Saving Time begins at 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 9, 2008 (that’s this Sunday). I love that extra hour of daylight in the evening but it makes for some dark mornings here in the Bluegrass until the days get longer as Summer approaches.
Throughout its long and fascinating history, daylight saving time has had a remarkable impact on a wide variety of unexpected areas – from Middle East terrorism to feuding twin cities, voter turnout to time-change riots, radio stations to trick-or-treaters, and opera performances to manslaughter charges.
