Centre again recognized as best value

Crouse Hall, Centre College, Danville KYCentre College appears on the recently published list of “20 Colleges Worth the Price” by the news Web site The Daily Beast. Click here to see the entire list.

Centre continues to appear as a best value on virtually all national lists and rankings.

Consumers Digest lists Centre College as the No. 1 value in the nation among private liberal arts colleges. Others in the top 10 include Grinnell, Davidson and Colorado College. Institutions among the top 20 include Bucknell, Williams and Amherst. The rankings are based on the value of the education received compared to the annual cost of tuition and room and board.

Free 411 calls update

The other day, we posted information about Google’s new free 411 service. Jay from 1800FREE411 posted a comment to remind us that “Unfortunately, that Google 411 number only provides business listings. If you want business, government, and residential listings (plus driving directions texted to your cell), you’re better off trying us at 1-800-FREE411. There are a couple short ads — about 10 seconds each — that keep the call free.”

So remember that GOOG-411 is only for business listings while 1800FREE411 is for all listings.

Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday at 2AM

Daylight Saving Time ENDS at 2:00 AM on Sunday, November 2, 2008 (that’s this Sunday). I’m not crazy about the early darkness, but every day gets us one step closer to next spring. :-)

Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour before you go the bed Saturday night.

Throughout its long and fascinating history, daylight saving time has had a remarkable impact on a wide variety of unexpected areas – from Middle East terrorism to feuding twin cities, voter turnout to time-change riots, radio stations to trick-or-treaters, and opera performances to manslaughter charges.
