It’s Festival Season in the Bluegrass!

As summer rolls toward it’s offical end, the Bluegrass is alive with Festivals, a few of which kick-off this week in Bardstown, Danville and Liberty.

This Tuesday, September 15 (also known as today), the Kentucky Bourbon Festival starts it’s six day run in Bardstown.

The Kentucky Bourbon Festival gives you a weekend full of smooth Bourbon, delicious food, and great entertainment, with a healthy dose of Kentucky hospitality thrown in for good measure. From black tie galas to historical tours, there is something for all ages and interests. It’s a wonderful five-day event full of activities for the whole family.

The “Clementine Crush Old Fashioned” is the offical drink fo the 2009 Kenntucky Bourbon Festival. Get the recipe here.

The Bourbon Festival has always been one of our favorites since we moved to the Bluegrass several years ago. We’ll see you there.


Constitution Square Arts Fest , Danville, Kentucky, September 18-20The Constitution Square Arts Fest will take place on September 18, 19, 20, 2009 in downtown Danville, Kentucky.

It’s the 31st year for the popular festival, and what better way to celebrate than with a new name, expanded offerings and a stronger emphasis on the arts!

There are a record number of exhibitors (147) who look forward to providing a memorable event for you and yours.

This year, in addition to all the usual Festival fun, we are pleased to announce The 2009 Miss Constitution Square Arts Fest. The pageant is open to all ladies between the ages of 16 and 21. The winner will qualify to attend the Kentucky Festival State Finals in Lexington on November 14 & 15, 2009.

Casey County Apple Festival - September 19-26, 2009 in Liberty, KentuckyThe 35th Casey County Apple Festival will be held in downtown Liberty, Kentucky September 19-26, 2009.The festival features some 200 vendors displaying arts and crafts, food and flea market booths, plus various pageants. There’s also free live musical entertainment, children’s and youth contests, food, parade, and a carnival.

Come help us capture the spirit of a hometown, homecoming celebration that has something for the entire family. The show pieces of the festival are the 10-foot giants produced each year. On Wednesday night IGA of Liberty will bake a 10-foot chocolate cookie followed by a 10-foot pizza on Thursday night, sponsored by Pizza Hut of Liberty, and of course don’t forget the 10-foot apple pie baked from scratch and served free to the public on Saturday.

It’s Bluegrass Festival Time Again!

Bluegrass Events logoSummer’s here and it’s time to celebrate life in the Bluegrass by getting out to one of the fabulous festivals that make Kentucky the greatest place to live. We’ve made a list of when and where some festivals are taking place this summer and we hope to see you at more than one.

Festivals are held all over the Commonwealth and each has a unique and distinctive local flavor. So get on out there and attend one of these festivals. You’ll have a great day out and you’ll be supporting Kentucky’s economy.

Great American Brass Band Festival

Great American Brass Band Festival logoIt’s almost time for the Great American Brass Band Festival (GABBF). The 20th Anniversary edition will take place June 11-14, 2009. GABBF events are held at various loactions in and around Danville, Kentucky. This is an incredibly popular event and people come from around the country – and around the world.

“The Great American Brass Band Festival is a one-of-a-kind event committed to preserving brass band music through performance and education. We pride ourselves on bringing the world’s best brass band music, FREE OF CHARGE, to historic downtown Danville, Kentucky.”

Some favorite activities include the Chautauqua Tea and Presentation and Bourbon and Brass on Tuesday, Luncheon Concert and Balloon Race on Friday, the Pancake Breakfast and Picnic Concert on the Centre College campus on Saturday and the Community Church Service and concerts on Sunday.
