Specialty Grocery in Danville?

To solicit investors for establishing a locally operated grocery or co-op (a la Good Foods) in downtown Danville, organizers want to demonstrate need/support. If you would shop there, please indicate what you would want, ie, natural, organic, bulk, locally produced, etc., and e-mail a short statement to Joe Davis of 4th Street Deli. Ask your friends to do it, too. Thanks.

Cakes for Kids Children’s Theater Benefit

Pam Birt of The Twisted Sifter Cake Shoppe in Perryville has been invited to design a cake for the Lexington Children’s Theater’s 70th Birthday Bash. Please join us in celebrating this special occasion.

The Lexington Children’s Theater Birthday Bash at Joseph Beth Booksellers will be on Saturday, April 18, 2009. The cakes will be displayed between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Please be sure to stop by, sample the cakes and support your local children’s theater.

Celebrate LCT’s 70th season with cakes decorated by local bakeries and pastry chefs in the style of your favorite LCT shows! Cakes based on popular children’s books seen on LCT’s stage, including Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan and others, will be available for silent auction.

For a donation of $5.00 kids and families will receive a cake judging ballot as well as the opportunity to sample cake from all participating bakeries! Yum! The top three cakes will be awarded with a special prize!

Also, enjoy a free craft compliments of The Mad Potter! Paint your own mouse to commemorate the popular children’s book, If you Give a Mouse a Cookie, an LCT favorite!

Adding to the fun of LCT’s 70th Birthday Bash, Joseph-Beth will be holding tons of activities for kids and families! Some of the activities include:

  • Costume Character Story Time
  • Crafts galore
  • Games
  • Face painting
  • Balloon animals
  • Bouncy obstacle course

All proceeds benefit LCT’s Annual Campaign.
