Bernheim Forest a Bluegrass Jewel

Category: Conservation, Day Trips, Outdoors, Travel – Bob Stovall – Friday, August 29th, 2008 at 8:52 am

Looking for something to do this Labor Day weekend?

Just west of Bardstown, across the road from Jim Beam on KY-243 in Clermont is one of the crown jewels of the Bluegrass State.

Founded in 1929 by Isaac Wolfe Bernheim, Bernheim Forest encompasses 14,000 acres dedicated to an aboretum, forest and nature preserve. Bernheim Forest is the largest privately owned natural area in Kentucky.

Here are some photos I took in Bernheim Forest on August 28.

Click on any thumbnail to see larger images. Next and Previous buttons will pop-up on either side of any photo. Enjoy.
