Where is Gravel Switch, Kentucky?
As you can see from the map, Gravel Switch
is pretty much in the middle of Kentucky, abut an hour and fifteen minutes
from Lexington (50 miles) and about an hour and forty-five minutes from Louisville
(70 miles).

One of the coolest things about being right here in the middle of everything is how easy it is to get to other places to visit, take in sports or concerts, or just plain get away. This map shows you just how many places are just a one day drive from Central Kentucky. 75% of the population is just a day's drive away.

Access to shopping is just a short drive in any direction. Danville, home of Centre College and one of Where to Retire magazine's Top 100 places to retire in their January/February 2006 issue is just 20 miles north. Danville boasts many amenities such as the Norton Center for the Arts, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, a beautiful downtown, Constitution Square (the birthplace of Kentucky and home of the annual Constitution Square Festival), a Super Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Goody's, Kroger, JC Penney, restaurants, movies and much more.

20 miles to the west is Lebanon, home of Kentucky Cooperage (which supplies those white ash barrels to the bourbon industry, a Super Wal-Mart, Kroger, restaurants and shops, and the Kentucky Ham Days Festival every September that celebrates Kentucky's world famous country ham industry.

16 miles south is Liberty, where you will find Amish shops and businesses, a quaint town that hosts an Apple Festival every year in September. Liberty also has an IGA supermarket and several restaurants including the Bread of Life, which supports the local Gallilean Children's Home, which so impressed visitor Charlie Daniels that he has been an active supporter ever since.

Fifteen miles up the road is Perryville, with it's convenience stores and the Perryville Battlefield, where the Union and Confederate armies clashed in a deadly battle on October 8, 1862. There is an annual re-enactment of the battle on the grounds of the battlefield that draws civil war buffs from all over the world.
